2020 Tiefenbrunner Pinot Blanc

Apr 15, 2022

WINE: 2020 Tiefenbrunner Pinot Blanc

REGION: Alto Adige, Southern Italy

BLEND: Pinot Blanc

ABV: 12.5%

NOTES:

This wine is just so cool for so many reasons and of course one of them is that this wine is pretty tasty!

Grab the bottle and check it out! Where would you think this wine hails from? First, you will notice “Tiefenbrunner”, on the label which one would assume is German, maybe Austrian? One could start to think of the snow-covered Alps… how about anyone else? Moving right along… The grape, Pinot Blanc, is French! It came to…?? I didn’t guess it at first, ITALY! (So that is a tricky label to sort out) Pinot Blanc came to Italy by way of Germany and Austria (crazy!?), thanks to the popularity of French grapes from Burgundy in those countries. Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are also grown in abundance in Alto-Adige the specific region this grape is grown.

This wine is an easy-drinking springtime wine! An awesome Easter dinner pairing! Will also be great on its own or with fish, shellfish, and cured meats. With its mellow aromatics, hints of golden apple and peach. The palate is more lively and full-bodied, with rich acidity and a lingering finish.
